The
pictures
bellow describe the history of Buckingham Apartments.
The original owner/builder of 240 Commonwealth Ave. Rollin H. Allen,
was a prominent Massachusetts businessman. He lived at the property
for several years with his wife and family. In the 1930s Mr. Allen
sold his home to the Boston School of Interior Decoration. The School
separated the home into several living spaces for its students while
maintaining the integrity of the original decor including the beautiful
and ornate plaster ceilings, and hand carved wooden features of
the banisters, as well as the many other features we hope you will
enjoy while browsing the gallery.
The current owner has maintained the original decor and prized features
of the property. It is a labor of love that she hopes you will also
appreciate and enjoy upon your visit.
